Newbie
Hi all. Thought I drop a line to introduce myself. I have just been lured back to a motorcycle after hanging up my boots and stinky waxy Belstaff some 30 years ago. I think you get the picture. Anyhow, I have always wanted to own a Boxer of my own after being a pillion on one for many many miles, I have gone out and spent some of the kids inheritance on a second hand RT. it's a bit like a first date with someone you have always fancied but too afraid to ask out and in about 12 sleeps from now, I am finally gonna have my chance. Being a shortie weighing 60 kegs at best, you can understand that I am as nervous as I am excited to meet her and may I say, throw my legs over her. Hopefully this is not going to be a total misadventure and all going well, I really look forward to meeting you all soon and showing off my date. Cheers, Ed

Re: Newbie
Welcome Ed :there are many other members in the club that have had a similar mid-life crisis and now ride their escape machines as club members. We share the enjoyment and experiences of riding motorbikes ( not all members are solely BMW owners) and the camaraderie of members of the BMWMCC of WA. We meet every Sunday at Catalanos in Vic park for breaky and a ride and have monthly meetings at the Vic hotel on the 2nd Mon of the month. Come along.

Re: Newbie
Thanks Bill for the warm welcome. This would be a mid life crisis if I lived to 124. I think it is more a case of senility? Yes I am looking forward to doing some rides with you all once I have the confidence to ride her without making a bloody fool of myself and disgrace the good standing of this club. Cheers, Ed

Re: Newbie
Thanks Cookie. Most encouraging. Have not been sleeping well. Waking up in the early hours of each morning visualising doing U turns without dropping her. Drove into Vic park this morning to buy some equipment and figured out where Catalanos is. One solitary GS parked outside. Presumably rest of the troops already on the road. 10 more sleeps. Cheers, Ed

Re: Newbie
For what it's worth, two things to avoid when doing a U-turn:
1. Using the front brake.
2. Revving the Boxer engine.

Some people are like Slinkys, you can't help smiling when you push them downstairs.

Re: Newbie
Hi all, would have love to meet you all this morning but I am still waiting for my bike to arrive from Vic. It has been a beautiful sunny day today and I am sure there were a few bikes out there making hay! My bike arrives on 25 th Tuesday next week and the earliest I can make it to the Sunday breakfast is 14 July as I am going to be over in Xmas leaving on 27th. Real bummer but hope to go AWOL on tues or Wed to get to know my new lady. Really looking forward to meeting you all. Got a couple of mates too, non BMW riders, who I hope to bring along. Cheers, Ed
Ps. Thanks for the tips Cookie. Definitely no front brakes. If in doubt, throttle out?

Hello Ed
Good to hear you are mobile. To post pictures here you will need to use a photo hosting service like Photobucket.com
Most of these services are free for low volume users. You then upload your pictures to the hosting site and link them into your post by using the Img button when you are composing or editing your message or posting as a Photobucket image link into your message.
Confused?
If Yes - send me your pics and I will load them for you (treasurer@bmwmccwa.asn.au)
If No - good luck and we look forward to seeing your pictures soon
Cheers
JonO

Re: Newbie
Hey, at least you knew/know how to ride a bike. When you see me - all 5ft 3 in with cut down seat on R80 GS you won't have anything to worry about. Warning: watch that Cookie, he almost pushed me over one day!

Re: Newbie
Just got back from a 310 km round trip to Australind from my place in West Perth. Nothing I am sure to the hard core bikers in this club but boy it felt like I have just climbed my own mini Everest. There was a few showers along the way but I stayed dry as a bone thanks to the wonderful weather protection on the RT. Except for a slippery spot at the bowser in Myalup when I felt my foot sliding under me, it was a relatively in control ride without any dramas despite a bagful of self doubts. This is my second ride and I cannot thank Cookie enough for lending me his cut down seat which made a HUGE difference. I can actually move the bike around sitting on the bike without over working the leg muscles. I think I might be prepared to take a chance and sign up for the dinner. Look forward to meeting you all. Cheers, Ed
