Super fun event
Congratulations to our tireless camp cook-off committee for another blinder evening, this time down in Wamenusking. Superb facilities, yes, facilities like toilets, club rooms, tennis courts, imported judge, microwave, fridge, bbq, tables, oven and chairs. It sounded too good to be true... but not this time...
A couple of us tried testing my new Hema H6N GPS. Quickly gathering trust in this device. The Garmin said turn around, the Hema said go forward, and forward we did. Rode over a few kilometres of red dirt through low lying lake country. Very special to see our country covered in water and everything green. Colour everywhere. I won't mention the w...flowers, lest the pedantic overlord, well, overlords
So the trusty Hema got us safely to the Wamenusking Sport Club. Superb weather and plenty of room for the tents, bikes and cars.
Yep, Wamenusking, beautiful one day, anyone for fishing the next
The good earth was ready to absorb that big LT, but not until 4 in the morning. And wouldn't it create a fuss. The fat lady laying on her side in the rain. The owner madly pullin g on his trousers, alarms screeching waking up even Jamie about a kilometre away
Robbo arrived with a good old fashioned GPS on his tank. Jame pointed out directions for the best camping spots.
The sun sets. Cooking begins...
The Judges, one all the way from NSW on a new water-cooled GS circumnavigating our beautiful land, one in from Kalgoorlie on a bus, and the youngest from Perth driving the Suburu...
So the judging begins...
My own submission
Post-judging, we gathered around the toasty fire waiting for the Dockers to win, and of course they did
Finally the results were allowed to be announced, knowing the Dockers were into the finals
And as the old saying goes, "Winners are grinners"
And then the moon poked it's shiny head through the trees while we did round robin with yarns a-plenty. Did you here the one about the... and so it went
Then on a perfectly still night, we all went soundly to sleep, only to be woken by the gale force winds, the fat lady LT crying about lying on her side, several inches of rain flowing down rivulets too close to some tents, lakes forming where there were once tennis courts and tents, at last breakfast came, hot coffee and tea from the urn. Paid our dues, turned off the power and missed most of the rain riding back to Perth. The BMW Rallye 3 definitely keeps out the rain and keeps the warmth in. It was a little less easy to avoid the big winds that blew solidly all day.
Kudos to all who joined us at this years Camp Cook-Off, the brave cooks, the even braver judges (who were still healthy in the morning), all our wonderful assistants for cooking instructions and guidance.
Thanks to our NSW judge and safe journey all the way back home. Hope you raise the funds and awareness to make your other journey more comfortable...

Thank you organisers, we thoroughly enjoyed our first cook off. The venue was awesome, the competition tough (hey Anthony) and the company great.
Thank you Nev & Bill for the report and photos.
Does anyone have a link of Claire's trip & fundraising?
