New Norcia - Meckering

A reluctant Bozo led eight riders on a deviation rich ride after breakfast at Catalano's.

The group of Wes, Titanic Paul, Jeff, Bry, Brian5, Rainer, Bozo and Swampy were quickly at Brigadoon for the Lancewood Avenue "woops" and then to O'Brien Road. A young emu caused Bozo some consternation by running right in front of him but all ended well when it slipped in to the scrub after leading the ride for 300 metres at 30 kph.

Berry Road put the group back onto Toodyay Road and all arrived safely in Toodyay.

Two of the group hung back causing corner marker Swampy some grief. We hope Swampy made it home as the two recalcitrant riders decided to go to New Norcia via Bindoon rather than via Bolgart.

Seven riders ultimately made it to New Norcia. The bar staff at the former Bishop's Palace would not put pen to paper on a lunch order until the stroke of 12:00 midday but we enjoyed a substantial lunch on the east facing Xystus before Paul asked "how are we getting home?"

Bry said he liked the Goomalling-Meckering Road followed by the Quellington Road to York.

The group agreed and we headed to the New Norcia petrol station with one working pump serving unleaded 91 RON fuel. 15 minutes later we were back on the road and wound our way past the massive piles of grain at Calingiri and through the ghost town of Bolgart to Goomalling.

Just south of Goomalling six of us turned off towards Southern Brook with Paul and Titanic taking a more direct route home.

The group was almost reduced by one more when one of the group turned right up the road less travelled and every one else veered left.

Earthquakes dominated the discussion at Meckering before the group tackled the alternating wide and skinny road to Quellington. At York the group deviated to Talbot Road and linked back up with the Great Southern Highway at Yarri Road.

A very pleasant day for riding and a relaxed group of riders. Apologies to Swampy for the mix up.

My apologies to Bozo and the rest of the guys for any concern that I inadvertently caused by me returning to Toodyay after Wes and Bry disapeared off the radar in the middle of town.

I was under the impression that they had decided to forego travelling on to New Norcia and were returning home??

I had been experiencing some fuel problems on the trip from Cat's with my bikes motor coughing and cutting out at the most inopportune times traveling through the twisty windies of O'Brian Road. It seemed to clear a bit after getting back on Toodyay Road and accelerating to and holding 110 kph on the way to town.

However I still held some concerns about continuing on and perhaps breaking down somewhere in the middle of "woop woop" and creating possible logistical recovery problems and spoiling the ride for the rest of the group, So I decided to run for home before that happened.

My apologies to Geoff for my poor communication skills Sorry mate.

Arrived home without incident and gave my tank a shot of Metho which appeared to clear the problem.............Water in fuel??

Once again my apologies to all for any concern I caused and I hope the rest of the ride was enjoyable to all.
