Gascoyne Trip - with Jono 996 View Video
I am planning to ride to the race meeting at Gascoyne Junction on August 23rd. Two other BMW Club members have already said they are interested in coming along.
The road to Gascoyne Junction from Carnarvon is now sealed and the new Gascoyne Junction Tavern/Roadhouse/Caravan Park has opened. The trip will be on bitumen.
The early planning is to stay in Carnarvon on Friday night and travel to the races on Saturday morning.
Carnarvon is 900 km north of Perth
Gascoyne Junction is 174 km east of Carnarvon
Options for any one leaving on Thursday would be to stay at Dongara/Geraldton on Thursday. Dongara is 369 km from Perth. Geraldton is 418 km. That would leave around 500 km to reach Carnarvon on Friday. The other option is for an early morning start on Friday for the 900km ride to Carnarvon.
I plan to camp at Gascoyne Junction on Saturday night and to travel 609 km to Kalbarri on Sunday returning to Perth on Monday.
The trip planning is flexible.
If you are interested get in touch.

Straight up the Carnarvon -Mullewa highway. You can overnight at Murchison settlement. The dirt road is as smooth as a babies. Live a little and use them GS's for what they were intended.

Have you forgotten what GS stands for: GOOD SEAL ( tar seal )

Gunna be a tough one to lock with work in Bill. I'll only get back from OCR & Broome Cup on 9 days before Gassy.
I'll give it a shot though... they can only say no.
Whats the plan for accomm at Gassy? Tent or room?

Re: Gascoyne Cup - Gascoyne Junction August 23
The only accommodation available now are single rooms at $100 per night at the Gascoyne Tavern. They include toilet/shower. The race track is 10 km west of Gascoyne Junction.
As at this morning there were 8 single rooms available.
I was actually planning to camp at the racetrack. The $25 admission includes the opportunity to pitch a tent. There are onsite caterers and a bar.

When I was there a few weeks ago the grass had just been planted at the van park,so there may not be any camping there still.
Camp at the track seems the go.

At the pub you can buy 1 carton OR 1 bottle of spirits, they did have king browns behind the bar, no sure if they were Emu Export or not.

Yep I'll be bringing the camel with camping gear. Thorsten fixed up the clutch and gave it a thorough going over and replaced brake lines and anything else that was looking dodgy so like a new bike now. I pulled out the 6 stack CD SYSTEM and have advertised it on e-bay. Why would anyone want music when riding gets me. Give me the sound of the wind and motor anytime.

Good news about the Camel Bill, Will it be carrying one hump or two
Must agree about the CD player mate, Who needs unnecessary distractions from the pure beauty of machine and nature

Bill, Bill, Bill, what have you done ? Nothing like cranking up a bit of Bat out of Hell or a bit of Stepenwolf whilst cruising north of Jurien Bay at 170 plus heading to Dongara, or a bit of Patricio whilst crossing the Nullabor. You better plug the Ipod into the cassette player.
The stereo blasting out a bit of Keith Urban or Troy Cassar-Daly will win you a bride for the night at the Gassy races ( might even score one of your cast offs for Swampy )
