Hi Swampy,
I have you in for a bunk bed at Billabong 22nd August, you will need to book your own room at Gasgoyne Junction Hotel for 23rd August, otherwise you will be on the grass with Bozo at the track getting back to nature.
Regards
Wes

What's wrong with camping on the grass with Bozo. It should have warmed up by the end of August and besides its part of the deal for getting into the races according to Boz. I gather some singing syrup will be ingested at the races so why book accomodation away from the venue when you can just roll into the comfy tent. I'll be tenting , bugger the $100 + to hire a hotel room , and the camel will only have 1 hump for this trip.

OK who's bringing what.Black top or gravel rides. I was intending bringing the camel and camping not far off the black top when practical, but it seems there is a predominance of GS's on this trip , even though it's a black top ride apparently, to the Gascoyne races at Gascoyne junction. I am trying to decide on mode of transport, GSA OR CAMEL. I would prefer the camel if everyone is on tar for the trip. But I hear there is some talk of people venturing off onto gravel going to different end points after Gascoyne and not staying as a group. Could those that want all black top please indicate and those wanting to hit the gravel also indicate on this forum.
So my question is, will this trip be a all black top trip with all participants riding as a group intent on black top only and no desire to go off-road or is the intention that a large proportion want to head off onto the gravel given that the destination is Gascoyne junction and there is a lot of gravel after Gascoyne junction.
I have crossed off Thurs 21st Aug-the following Mon for this trip, and given it's the wildflower season , I am looking forward to a BMW CLUB group ride with a maximum number of club members participating . It seems we have about 8 or 9 indicating they are going. Hopefully we get more as it's the best time of the year to do this ride with the weather and the wildflower season. For those sitting on the sidelines go for it club group rides are fun and memorable. The more members coming along the better the trip 8)

Not going to make Catalanos tomorrow as I have the worst case of Man flu my wife has ever seen, ( she would know she's a nurse).

Still keen on the trip up to the Gascoyne cup, I would be happy to head towards the gravel perhaps mullewa - carnarvon rd, staying at Murchison settlement as previously suggested by bully.

Either way black top or gravel it is sure to be a fantastic trip.

The timing is right...i'll be at the OCR on Saturday 9th and may take some time afterwards to check out the Kimberley and then the Pilbara on the way home. I reckon if i time it right, i could be at the races for the 23rd. I will be returning to Perth via the unsealed stuff as much as possible (at least to Mullewa)
