Weekend 22nd to 23rd October Ride!!

Post by Swampy »

We have now completed four extremely well attended and popular annual weekend rides to Nannup in October and several members have suggested we now change venues from that old chestnut Nannup to a new and fresh destination!!

I am considering organising a weekend ride on the 22-23 October(Not Set) for 2022 and would welcome suggestions from you as to what town you would prefer as a destination?

Consideration should be given to a town which has suitable accommodation and is able to cater for a large group to camp at a Hotel and or Caravan Park according to individual sleeping requirements!

Secondly, Accommodation tariffs should be sensibly and reasonably priced in order to attract more attendee's and not deter them!!

A suitable venue for us to enjoy an evening of Wining , Dining and socialising together be it at either a Hotel or Restaurant!!

And finally and ideally a towns destination that involves riding some varied and interesting alternate routes in order to ensure we all enjoy the ride!!

Ideally I would prefer for individuals to put their suggestions on paper so that all can be fairly considered and decided upon!!

I am contactable either on a Sunday morning at Catalano's or you can alternatively access my contact details via the Members Private Forum.

I thank you in advance for your participation and involvement!!

Well Folks, It has been extremely quiet, especially from those who were wanting an alternative to Nannup for our annual pilgrimage down south!!

I have not received one single suggestion thus far and if in 2 x weeks time the status quo remains I will go ahead and start planning for a 5th trip to Nannup on the Sat 22nd - Sun 23rd October 2022

With the borders opening soon I believe early planning and bookings will be essential as the Interstate/International floodgates open to travellers.

I know Nannup Nick would be pleased and happy if Nannup is decided on and hopefully we might see Clayton Cream and the Geraldton mob turn up as well?

And Scruff may even get his Triple Black R1250RT by then and join us??????????

This ride has gained popularity and has been extremely well attended over the years so I suggest to those that have not considered it before to give it a go as the ride south and back is well worth the effort and that is apart from the social gathering of like minded enthusiasts on Saturday night.

So start plotting and planning and make sure you keep the 22nd - 23rd October 2022 open for this great club trip!!

The clock is ticking folks!!

Here's a suggestion for an October ride, Three Springs. It's a good ride up there, the Geraldton crew will have a good ride, wildflowers still out and nice riding weather. There's dozens of different ways to get there and accommodation is plentiful. This annual ride could possibly be rotated between the mid west and south west.

October is 9 months away, please give people time to respond, i would allow at least a good 5-6 months for input. I
You will still have 3 months to organise the ride.

Nice if you can do that Dave and I appreciate your thoughts and input mate!!

However it's not that simple here in WA anymore with our borders still in lockdown and with people holidaying in their own state it means you have to book months ahead these days.

I checked out a couple of places in October and they are either already booked up or too damned expensive!!

This is the reason for my early planning this year.

Hi Swampy

As discussed recently, how about Denmark?

The Koorabup motel is very good, a little more expensive than Nannup but options to share rooms and multi-room units. Discounts for seniors but also group booking discount.

See https://www.koorabup.com.au/

It is right next door to the Denmark Tavern which has excellent food and great ambience.

Only possible drawback is motel is popular so earlier booking essential if group is large.

P.S. There are some magnificent bitumenised back road options.

Regards
Anthony

Looks pretty good Anthony but you were correct about booking early mate!!

The motel is fully booked for October by the looks of it!!

The Great Annual Pilgrimage to Nannup!!

Post by Swampy »

Well folks, Lacking suitable alternative destinations being readily available I have decided on planning the clubs 5th annual pilgrimage with this years destination being again that quirky little south west town..........NANNUP!!

As usual the Nannup Hotel does not like answering phone calls but I will persevere and have earmarked Saturday the 22nd October 2022 for us to travel there!!
(Standby for confirmation)

Nannup has been a popular destination over the past 4 years and club members have always managed to have a lot of laughs and fun with good mates which includes a great ride through some beautiful country.

Peter has once again fronted up to orchestrate another enjoyable route and to also lead and conduct the ride whilst I bring up the rear!!

The Hotel has historically been the centre to stay at but there are also B&B's and the Caravan Park is within walking distance of the hotel.

Meals are available at the Hotel or alternatively I will book us into The Nannup Brewing Company which was very well attended last year.

So folks the die is cast so earmark Saturday the 21st October for another Great Annual Pilgrimage to Nannup for another terrific weekend away with the club!
