Bill and the Kilted Camel have hit Broken Hill.

He is noticing that it is a little less nimble than the 1200GSA.

He has two days of fine weather until he hits Eucla.

2 days ? I thought it was a 1200lt not a ttr250. Is this going to be a 2 week journey, put the CD player on, slip in a bit of Angels, ACDC and Meatloaf and crank that beast up, they cruise along nicely at 150, got a nice sweet spot there.

Lots of cars with lots of aerials and blue lights around just about every corner. They are having a traffic blitz over here apparently it is the tourist season around these parts and easy revenue raising suckers in great numbers. Otherwise Would have been home by now bully

The 99's had a tape deck in the glove box and a 6stack in the right pannier. You can pick up a tape to 3.5mm jack adapter and plug in an ipoo or use your phone for music. 4gb means you hit play in Northam and won't hear all the music when you get to Coffs

Yup, that's the NSW I remember from old. Nothing changes. We don't know how lucky we are in WA being able to whisk along at the heady speed of 110 kph.

Those eastern-state's would get giddy going as fast as we're allowed to here.

Hope you've got a sticker on your helmet Bill. Then again, you're probably better off covering it up. The helmet rules across our states are so inconsistent, it adds another bullet in the blues arsenal to harass motorcyclists.

Lucky you didn't have one of us riding with you in 'beautiful one day, pissing down the next' QLD, as we could have been done for being a gang there.

However, you're almost on the home stretch at Broken Hill.

What ever you do in SA, make sure your dog is licensed!

Bill has just passed through Penong in SA and has only got 1850 kms to go to Perth.

He should be at the WA border by lunch time today.

True, but his Spot put him just east of Madura Pass at 2.30 or so.

There's nothing emptiness where the last spot is?

Looks like he is on target to be home on Friday.

Arrived in Coolgadie. Haven t been able to use my I-phone last couple of days. Vodophone has no coverage out in the sticks. Wind was blowing side on at about 30+ knots and has worn the back tyre so there is hardly any tread on the right side of the tyre. I will have to take it easy for the last 600 ks to make it last. Apart from that and the big chill the bike has been great. Probably covered over 5000 k in the 6 days. The camping gear hasn't been unpacked. A nice warm room with a hot shower always seems to be more appealing when arriving after 8+ hrs in the saddle.
Should be in Perth tomorrow and the first stop is Autoclassic for new tyres

Why go to the stealership, tyres are cheaper and better range at tyres for bikes, put a set of roadpilot 3's on it.

The K1LTed Camel is back with new pilot Bill on board.

The tyres looked a bit second hand particularly as Bill wound his way carefully down a wet Greenmount Hill behind a sheep truck discharging slippery stuff.

All will be sorted with two new tyres being fitted and the Camel being able to that she has nothing worn under her K1LT.

As I rounded the bend coming into the Lakes turn-off to York I was pleasantly humbled to be greeted by stalwart club rider Bozo who had braved the weather and came out to give me a escort back into the city. We stopped at the Mundaring Dome and had the signature BMW RIDER lattes. Chris was keen to relive the trip that he also did last year and we exchanged stories and similar experiences of the trip. We both agreed it was hard work sitting on a motorbike for 8hrs + a day for day after day for the 6 days it took to cover the distance with the concentration required , the unknown as to what was around the next corner, the discomfort of what the elements threw at us and the somewhat real risk of riding a piece of machinery whose history details may or may not have been exaggerated in order to make a sale that we have now acquired and were now relying on to take us across Oz. We agreed it was an adventure. Probably not into the same league hardcore dirt ride Chris and Bowe achieved but still our little adventure which I think most club members also have an affinity for and draws us together as a club and distinguishes us as people who go for it. You have to do these things to make life interesting , memorable and fulfilling.
I had a great adventure and Doris has a comfortable pillion ride to sit on.

Well done , 8 hours a day on the bike is better than 8 hrs at work . your week has probably being more interesting than mine .
